Northwest Chess
This iconic publication served at times as the official organ for the BCCF in the 1970s, but since the magazine often contained B.C. material it
is not easy to determine exactly when these times occurred. This is partly due to the changing political aspects of B.C. chess at that time: there
were upto four different chess federations, each having to decide whether to affiliate with the CFC and its rating system and magazine, rely on
Northwest Chess and its adjunct rating system, or use some other means of communication (Canadian Chess Chat or a self-produced publication).
Around 1980 B.C. reports were appearing in the magazine on a bi-monthly basis, and a BCCF membership entitled subscribers to receive every other issue of
Northwest Chess, i.e., just those containing the B.C. reports. Harold Brown was editor for the three years preceding 1980, then Dan Scoones took
over the reins. Scanned back issues of Northwest Chess can be found here.

Canadian Chess Chat: British Columbia Chess Report
Editor: Harold Brown
"The May issue of the B.C. Chess Report was the final one. All members will now receive
our new Official Magazine: Canadian Chess Chat." [Canadian Chess Chat, September 1977]
"A number of people (including members of the executive) have expressed dissatisfaction with
Canadian Chess Chat as official B.C. organ (e.g., mailing of two issues at once, and general lateness
of B.C. news), and it has been proposed that we return once again to Northwest Chess"
[The last report was in the June 1978 issue of Canadian Chess Chat]

Ladysmith Chronicle, Ladysmith
Vancouver Province, Vancouver
by Nathan Divinsky, 16 November 1963 - 23 May 1964 ("Chess charivari")
a chess column by Al Horowitz preceded and subsequently replaced Chess charivari; during the change-over periods some columns were
unattributed, making it hard to determine who wrote what. After the reintroduction of Horowitz's column in late May, 1964, local news
